Giants Will Fall

"For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds." -  2 Corinthians 10:4

Imagine standing at the edge of a valley, looking across to the other side where an impossible obstacle looms large. It feels deafening in its intimidation. It seems to have every advantage, every weapon, and every reason to make you turn around and walk back to safety. Maybe your valley looks like a mountain of debt, a struggle with addiction, or a relationship that seems fractured beyond repair. You hear the taunts of the enemy, telling you that this problem is too big and your resources are too small. It is easy to feel small in those moments, but the story of David and Goliath reminds us that the battle is never decided by the size of the giant. It is decided by the size of the God who fights for you.

When fear tries to dictate your next step, remember that you do not have to fight in your own strength. The spirit of faith is not the absence of fear, but the decision to let God be louder than your worry. You might look at your situation and see ashes, yet God is a master at turning those very ashes into beauty. He is not intimidated by what intimidates you. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power available to you right now.

As the message shared this past Sunday reminded us, the reality of the Christian life is that giants will appear. They are loud, they are intimidating, and they are armed. But they do not have the final say. If you have not had a chance to watch the full message yet, you can watch "Giants Still Fall" here. We hold onto this truth: "Giants never kill giant-killers, not because of the size of the giant-killer, but because of the size of their God." When you anchor your heart in His promises, you become part of a lineage of people who have seen strongholds crumble. Your history does not define your future, because the God who defeated sin and death is the same God who walks with you through your current battle.

This truth changes the way you navigate the challenges that feel heavy. It means that you can face your circumstances with a calm spirit. You do not need to panic. You do not need to rush to find your own solutions that only offer temporary relief. Instead, you can breathe, knowing that the weapons you have through God are mighty. They are capable of tearing down the barriers that have kept you stuck. When you feel overwhelmed, you can shift your gaze from the height of the giant to the glory of your Creator.

So, how do you live this out when the noise of the world is loud? You choose to cultivate a heart of faith every single day. This is not about trying to be perfect or having all the answers. It is about a daily surrender. Take one specific moment this week to identify one fear that has been holding you back. Write it down. Then, underneath it, write out the verse from 2 Corinthians 10:4. When you feel that fear creeping in, speak that verse out loud as a reminder that your strength is not found in yourself, but in the divine power that lives inside you. Let that be your anchor.

REFLECTION

What is one specific situation where you have been measuring the size of your giant instead of measuring the size of your God, and what is one small step of faith you can take to trust Him with it today?

TODAY'S PRAYER

Lord, You are greater than any challenge I face. I confess that sometimes the giants in my life feel overwhelming and loud. I ask that You would replace my spirit of fear with a spirit of faith. Help me to trust that You are working, even when I cannot see the path forward. Remind me that I am never fighting alone and that my victory is found in Your strength, not my own. Thank You for being the God who turns my sorrow into joy. Amen.
