Interview with Rabbi Tuly in Mevo Modi'im

Devastation. Families displaced. Whole towns wiped out. Enemies discovering new ways to access control by using kites and balloons as new weaponry in order to disrupt and destroy the lives of innocent people and families. This is the reality in Jerusalem and throughout Israel.

Children and families in Israel live in a constant state of threat. In recent weeks, the city of Mevo Modi’im in Israel experienced such devastation. The town of about 60 families representing almost 300 people, was destroyed by fire, literally reduced to ashes. But in the face of tragedy, God always has an answer which is more powerful than any attack. Here at Jentezen Franklin Ministries, we feel a mandate from God to be a part of that answer; to fulfill the biblical prophecy of Isaiah 61; to come along side Israel, the Jewish people, as strangers and foreigners in their land to help, comfort, and proclaim the Good News.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me ... to comfort all who mourn, to console those who morn in Zion to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness ... and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations. Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the foreigner shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
—Isaiah 61:1-5

Isaiah 40:1 goes on to say, “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” says your God. Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended.”

The Bible states that whatever you may be facing there is beauty for ashes; to plant the “trees of victory”; for the rebuilding of cities, villages, and people’s lives; that it is not over. Every time someone has burned you, God says, I will give you beauty for ashes that the enemy has put on you.  Do you need a “tree of victory” for your life? God promises to prosper those who care for Israel, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee (Psalm 122:6)."

America is a country that cares for the nation of Israel and their life experiences that are expressed. America remains blessed as long as we are in unity with Israel. It is to be believed and it is scriptural. God prophesied that Gentiles would partner with Jews to rebuild the land and replant trees of victory. The Bible goes on to say that, “those who sow in tears, shall reap in joy…bearing seed for sowing shall doubtless come again with rejoicing. Bringing his sheaves with him” (Ps.126: 5-6). This we must do for Israel.

So in this 71st year of Israel, we, non-Jews, are to memorialize the devastated communities of Israel by connecting with the land and people of Israel. It is time for us to sow into the land of Israel as never before and help rebuild the fallen. So let us pray for the people of Israel, and let us stand for the people of Israel.
