A Time to Pray for Our Nation

As the November election approaches, there is no shortage of voices competing for our attention. Headlines, conversations, and uncertainty about the future can leave us feeling overwhelmed.

But amid all that noise, we can make room for prayer.

I want to invite you to join me in praying for our nation, not just on Election Day, but in the days leading up to it and long after the results are announced.

I’ve recorded a message about this election season.

What should we pray for?

You don’t need perfect words or an understanding of every issue to begin. You can come to God honestly, bringing your concerns and asking for His wisdom.

In 1 Timothy 2:1–2, we are instructed to pray for people in positions of authority. That invitation to prayer remains important regardless of who holds office.

As you pray this season, consider these places to begin:

  • Wisdom for our leaders. Ask God to help those entrusted with responsibility make thoughtful, just decisions.
  • Peace in our communities. Pray for safety and for conversations marked by patience rather than hostility.
  • Compassion for our neighbors. Ask God to help us recognize the dignity of people whose experiences and opinions differ from our own.
  • Hope for the next generation. Pray for the children and families who will inherit the decisions being made today.

Make a plan to vote

If you’re eligible to vote, take time to review your ballot and confirm your state’s voting requirements, deadlines, and available voting options. You can find official information through Vote.gov.

A resource to guide your prayers If you would appreciate some direction as you pray for our nation, we have a resource to help you set aside intentional time with God during this season. It is available with your gift of any amount, and I hope it will encourage you to continue seeking Him beyond Election Day.
