The Miracles of Embracing the Old and the New
Sermon Notes
God desires for us to embrace the old and the new. When you treasure the old, new things will begin to spring forth. As you honor the traditions passed down, you also make room for new things God wants to do.
Key Scriptures:
Matthew 13:51-52; Isaiah 42:9; Jeremiah 6:16; Exodus 20:12; Hosea 6:3; Revelation 5:9
Key Points:
- Treasure The Old Things: God is not stuck to the old traditions. However, you must treasure the old traditions—while also being open to new things that spring forth. You must still participate in the old things to see new and present things to come to pass.
- Treasure The Old Path: You must stick to the treasure of the old path to see the new spring forth. The Old Path involves practices like reading the bible, fasting, prayer, praise, and purity—time-honored traditions that pave the way for new blessings.
- Treasure The Older People: You must honor and value those who have come before you, such as your parents, elders, or mentors whom God has placed in your life. By doing so, you will make room for God to bring forth something new.
Final Thoughts:
When you treasure the old, new things will begin to spring forth. To lead well, you must honor the old treasures of faith while embracing the new, ensuring both the past and future are valued as we lead the next generation.
