THE CHAMPION

In 1 Samuel 17, the Philistines had a champion, Goliath. But God’s people had a champion too, David. Goliath is a picture of the serpent that deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. David represents Jesus, the root and offspring of David. Satan tried to defeat God’s people, but Jesus is our Champion. The gospel message is not that you can defeat your enemies but that Jesus already has. Don’t face Goliath by yourself. Put your faith in God, and let him fight your battle for you!
