Pain Produces Power

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

When Samson stood bound before the Philistines, it looked like the end. He was tied with new ropes, surrounded by enemies, and outnumbered a thousand to one. But in that moment of helplessness, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and the ropes that held him fell away like burned flax. Out of what looked like defeat came deliverance. Out of weakness came strength.

That is how God works. He allows you to reach your breaking point so that His strength can be revealed in your weakness. Many times, when God is about to bless you, before the blessing, all hell breaks loose. Trouble shows up from every direction. Confusion clouds your heart, and you wonder if you will ever stand again. But power is born out of pain. The deeper the hurt, the greater the help God releases through you. Those who pour out healing to others are often the ones who have first walked through their own darkness.

Greatness is spawned in the trenches of adversity. It is born out of ashes and painful experiences.

It is in the obscure, hidden, dark times when you feel like you are not going to make it that God begins to birth purpose inside of you. It is not in the good times, but in the dark times that He births greatness inside of people. If you hold out long enough, God will bring out of you everything He has placed within you.

When a skyscraper is built, the builders spend the most time underground. They dig deep to pour a foundation strong enough to hold what will one day rise above the clouds. That is how God works with you. Before He takes you high, He first takes you low. He digs deep to prepare your foundation. The season that feels like breaking is the one where He is setting you for blessing.

So when it feels like you are buried, remember that God may be building. Hold on through the pain. Keep trusting through the pressure. Because in God’s hands, your pain is never wasted—it is producing power.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. When I feel weary or crushed by pressure, remind me that You are shaping something greater within me. Help me to trust You through every trial and believe that my pain is producing power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
