One Short Conversation
"But Jesus said to them, 'My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.'" John 4:34 (NKJV)
One time God spoke to my heart, “It is dangerous if a ministry is growing larger, but the passion is shrinking smaller.” This principle is not just about church. It applies to every area of life. Your career can be thriving, your bank account can be growing, your dreams can be expanding, but if your passion for Jesus is shrinking, you are at your weakest. External success does not measure your spiritual vitality. True power and influence flow from the heart that remains passionate for Christ, not from the size of your ministry, your title, or your resources.
Jesus demonstrated this perfectly in Samaria. The disciples, filled with knowledge and doctrine, were preoccupied with their own comfort. They even brought Him lunch. They missed the moment. But the woman at the well with only partial understanding had one thing the disciples lacked: passion. After encountering Jesus, she said, “Come see this Man!” and her zeal drew the entire city to Christ. You would have thought that the disciples would have been the ones to gather up the town, not just some random woman who had just had a five-minute conversation with Jesus. Passion, not perfect theology, not position, not experience, released God’s power.
Power always follows passion. It is the fire in your heart, the hunger for God, the commitment that refuses to settle for half measures. The more we are blessed, the more our passion should grow, not shrink. Let the blessings in your life propel you toward a deeper hunger for God. Let your worship, your service, and your devotion be fueled by passion because when passion ignites, God’s power flows freely.
Remember that passion is what keeps you pressing through obstacles, reaching beyond logic, and touching the hem of His garment. Passion transforms ordinary people into vessels for extraordinary miracles. It is not what you know that releases God’s power. It is how deeply you desire Him.
Prayer: Lord, ignite a fire in my heart that cannot be dimmed by comfort or success. Help me to keep my passion for You alive, even when my life is full, and my schedule is busy. Let my hunger for You grow with every blessing, and may my devotion to You overflow in my words, my actions, and my worship. Teach me to pursue You with the same zeal as the woman in Samaria, so that Your power may be revealed through my passion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
