He Has Risen!

“But the angel said, ‘Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He has risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.” Mark 16:6

One of the beautiful stories of the Old Testament is when God appointed Aaron as the leader of His people. When God wanted to authenticate Aaron, He told the leaders of all the tribes to bring a dead stick and lay it on the altar. He said the stick that comes alive and begins to bud almonds will indicate my choice of who the leader should be. So all the twelve tribes got a stick and laid it on the altar. The next day, they came in and Aaron’s rod had budded. A dead stick came to life. Everyone then knew that God had chosen Aaron to be the high priest, not someone from one of the other tribes. All the tribes wanted to be in charge, but God already had a plan.

There are many religions that claim their leader is the messiah and the savior. There is one thing they all have in common: they all lived and they all died. Buddha came and died and has never risen to life again. Muhammad came and died and you can go and visit his grave where his body still lies. Jesus came, was killed and buried in a tomb but that’s not where the story ends. On the third day the tomb was empty. He had risen! Jesus is alive.

We are so thankful for the victory that was won on Calvary. Pray this prayer today: Lord I ask that you would stretch forth your hand into my home today. Release resurrection power, newness of life, and the ability to begin again. Don’t let the enemy keep me down, but raise me up into life and life more abundantly. Thank you, Jesus. You have risen from the dead, defeated sin and death, and paved the way for me to have a glorious destiny. I will never forget your great love for me.
