Get Your Family in the House

“By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.” (Hebrews 11:31 NKJV)

Hebrews 11 is known as the Hall of Faith, filled with stories of bold miracles and powerful victories. You read about men who conquered armies, stopped the sun, and called down fire from heaven. Yet right in the middle of those extraordinary moments, God highlights something that seems simple but carries eternal weight. He honors people who made sure their families were saved.

Rahab was a family hero. She did not defeat an army. She did not perform a miracle. She simply believed God and made one defining decision. She got her family inside the house. That is what made her a hero. When the spies came to her, she asked for one thing. She wanted her whole family saved. She was given a clear instruction. Tie the scarlet cord in the window and get everyone into the house. The promise of protection was real, but it was connected to their position. They had to be inside.

Rahab did not just believe the promise; she acted on it. She went and gathered her family. She brought them in, even if they resisted. Even if it was inconvenient. Even if they did not understand. She knew that their safety depended on being in the house. In the same way, God calls you to be a hero in your home. Not by doing something flashy or public, but by doing something faithful and consistent. You are a hero when you get your family in the house of God. You are a hero when you make church a priority. You are a hero when you lead your family into an environment where the presence of God can reach them.

It may not always be easy. Some days they may not want to go. There may be resistance, excuses, or attitudes. It may feel inconvenient or even exhausting. But just like Rahab, your role is not to control every outcome. Your role is to get them in the house. Because in the house, there is covering. In the house, there is truth. In the house, there is worship, healing, and the presence of God. You cannot force someone’s heart to change, but you can place them in an atmosphere where God can move.

Rahab’s story reminds you that faith is not always about big moments. Sometimes it is about daily decisions that position your family for God’s protection and grace. When the walls fell around her, her house stood. Not because of who she was, but because she believed enough to gather her family inside. You may feel ordinary, but heaven sees your faithfulness. When you keep showing up, keep leading, and keep bringing your family into God’s house, you are doing something eternal. You are building a legacy that reaches far beyond what you can see.

Prayer: Father, give me the courage and consistency to lead my family well. Help me to make Your house a priority and not grow weary in doing what is right. Draw my family close to You and let Your presence transform every heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
