You Are Doing Better Than You Think

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

One of the greatest compliments that Jesus ever paid any human being was regarding John the Baptist. He said, “Assuredly I say to you, among those born of woman, there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist…” (Matthew 11:11). Unfortunately, John never heard those words of encouragement. After Herod imprisoned him, he sent word to the disciples, asking them to ask Jesus, “Are you the coming one, or do we look for another?” And Jesus answered, “Go tell John the things which you hear and see. The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” Jesus wanted John to stay encouraged and know that his efforts were not in vain. Living a life for Jesus is never a wasted life.

So be encouraged today. Jesus loves you. You may have issues, but you’re going to make it. You may not be what you ought to be, but you’re not what you used to be, and you’re going to get there by God’s grace. Don’t give up, don’t quit, and don’t keep putting yourself down. If you have given your life to Jesus, you’re moving in the right direction.

An old preacher once said. I’m going to tell you how to get to Heaven. “Don’t ever stop going. That’s all you have to do to get to Heaven. Just don’t ever stop going.” Ecclesiastes 3 describes 28 times and seasons in life. It says there’s a time to be born, and there’s a time to die. There’s a time to laugh, and there’s a time to cry. There’s a time to dance, and there’s a time to mourn. There’s a time to gather, and there’s a time to let go. The one time you will not find in Ecclesiastes is a time to quit. It is not God’s desire for you to give up.

You may have things you need to work on, but you’re still blessed and highly favored. You may be fighting a disease or could be a single mom who is running out of money. You may have an addiction or habit in your life that you just can’t seem to overcome. Be encouraged because you are doing better than you think you are. You are reading this right now and trying to stay close to God. If you were as bad as you think you are, you wouldn’t even want to read the word of God. Something in you says, “Even if I fall, I fall forward, and I’m gonna go after God.”

Satan is the accuser. He wants you to give in to condemnation and quit trying. Beat the accuser to the throne. God is waiting there for you with open arms. Be encouraged today. You serve a God who believes in you and will never let you go.
