Welcoming God’s Presence Into Your Home
“So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obededom and all that he had.” 1 Chronicles 13:13-14 (KJV)
Imagine your home becoming the dwelling place of God’s presence. That was the experience of Obededom. He was not from the right background. He was not raised with the Scriptures. He had no training in the worship of Jehovah. Yet God’s presence came to his house and stayed there for three months. And the Bible says that during that time, the Lord blessed everything connected to his family. His wife. His children. His possessions. His future. Everything began to change because God’s presence was welcome in that home.
You can learn from Obededom’s story.
You do not have to come from a perfect past. You do not have to have generations of faith behind you. When you welcome God into your life, He can transform everything.
His blessing flows where His presence dwells. You may not even understand everything about Him yet, but if you open your home and your heart, you can experience what Obededom experienced.
Do not push His presence off into the corner of your life. Place Him at the center. Let His presence shape your marriage. Let His presence shape the atmosphere for your children. You can begin today. Start by worshiping in your home. Pray together as a family. Invite Him to be more than a Sunday guest. Make Him a permanent resident.
And just like Obededom, when His presence marks your home, it will mark your children. It will change how you think. It will make you hungry for more. When the ark left Obededom’s house, he volunteered to serve in God’s presence at the temple. That is the power of welcoming Him. Once you have tasted His presence, you will not want to live without it.
Prayer: Lord, I welcome Your presence into my home and my heart. Let everything in my life be marked by Your blessing. Shape my family and my future by Your Spirit. Make my home a place where You dwell, and let my children experience Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
