This Is Not a Game
“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality.” 1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NIV)
There is a difference between stumbling into sin and knowingly living in it. You know it is wrong to lie. You know it is wrong to steal, to cheat, to sleep around, to gamble away your money. You know it. And yet if you continue to practice it without repentance, the Bible says you are in dangerous territory.
Paul told the Corinthian church that there came a point where someone refused to repent. He would not stop. He would not turn. And so Paul said the protective covering of God would be lifted and Satan would be allowed to bring destruction in hopes that the man would finally realize the deadly seriousness of sin. That sounds severe, but it reveals the mercy of God. Sometimes, He allows the weight of consequences to fall so you will finally wake up and turn back before it is too late.
Sin is not a game. Sin is poison. It corrodes, it destroys, it eats away at your soul. The world will tell you it is harmless, but the Word of God says otherwise. You can go to church every time the door is open, but if you continue to resist the Holy Spirit, and if you hear truth week after week and still refuse to repent, the covering of God’s protection is lifted.
Friend, God is calling you to a different life. His Word says plainly that His will for you is sanctification. That means separation from the world. It means living with moral purity and honesty. You are not to bend the truth just because it helps your business.
Don’t follow the culture just because everyone else does. You are called to be set apart.
This is not about rules to ruin your life. This is about a holy God who loves you too much to let sin destroy you. His command is clear because His love is real. You do not have to stay bound. You can be free in Christ.
Lord, open my eyes to see sin for what it really is. Do not let me treat it lightly or make excuses for it. Purify my heart and set me apart for You. Give me strength to walk in honesty and holiness every day of my life. Amen.
