There Is Only One First Place

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24 (NIV)

If God could get this one truth settled in your heart, it would change everything. Your house is important. Your business matters. Your family, marriage, children, and future all matter deeply. But there is one thing that matters more than all of it put together. Jesus. There is no such thing as two first places. You cannot put your career first and Jesus first. You cannot put money first and Jesus first. He is clear. No man can serve two masters. One will always take priority.

Jesus does not compete for second place. He only occupies first place. And when He is first, everything else comes under His care. If He is not first, then the pressure is on you to hold it all together. But if you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, He says you do not have to worry.

Here is the good news. God already handled the biggest debt of your life. Your sin debt. If He could cancel that debt through the cross, He is more than able to handle any other debt you are facing. He can handle your financial pressure, career uncertainty, and your fear about the future. When you put God first, you are not being irresponsible. You are putting your life into the most secure hands there are.

When you honor God, He honors you. When you put Him first, favor follows. Doors open. Vision comes alive. Dreams are awakened. God begins to surprise you.

And He is not limited by your background, your education, or your starting point. He blesses the work of your hands. He gives strategy, provides opportunity, and takes care of those who trust Him.

Some of you need to hear this clearly. Do not worry. God knows where you live. He knows your name. He knows your situation. He knows what you need before you ask. And when you hand Him your job, your business, your dreams, and your future, He becomes responsible for what you surrender.

There is something powerful that happens when you say it out loud. Jesus, You are first. First in my life. First in my dreams. First in my calling. When He is first, peace replaces anxiety, hope replaces fear, and gratitude replaces striving.

Prayer: Lord, I choose You first. Above my plans, my fears, and my possessions. I give You my work, my future, my dreams, and my family. Thank You for canceling my sin debt and for caring about every other need in my life. I trust You completely. Surprise me, Lord. I put You first. Amen.
