The Touch of the King (Part Three)

“Then He touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, ‘Young man, I say to you, get up!’” Luke 7:14 (NIV)

There is nothing like the touch of God. His touch can break through depression, silence panic, and calm fear. It can fill your heart with courage when tomorrow looks uncertain. It can bring peace to the middle of life’s storms. The same God who formed man with His hands instead of just speaking him into existence still reaches down to touch His people today. He is not distant or uninterested. He wants to meet you where you are and breathe life back into what feels numb and lifeless.

When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid from the touch of God. Shame and guilt made them run. Sin still does that today. It makes you pull away from the people and the presence that can help you most. It convinces you that you’ve gone too far, that there’s no way back. But God never stops reaching. In Genesis, He called out to Adam, “Where are you?” Not to condemn him, but to restore him. That same call echoes today. “Where are you?” God is not running from you; He is running toward you.

Maybe you have gone too long without feeling His touch. You read the Bible, you attend church, but inside, you’re dry. The fire that once stirred your heart feels dim. That is spiritual numbness. Paul warned that in the last days, people would become “past feeling.” When your worship becomes routine and your heart no longer moves at the thought of Heaven, something inside needs a fresh touch.

In Luke 7, a funeral procession was making its way to the grave. A widow was preparing to bury her only son. Then Jesus showed up. He reached out and touched the coffin, and the boy came back to life. What a picture of His power. When He touches what has died, life returns.

What has gone cold in your spirit can burn again. What has grown silent can sing again.

You are not beyond His reach. The King’s touch can still bring dead things back to life.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I need Your touch today. Reach into the places that have grown numb and bring them back to life. Touch my mind, my heart, and my spirit. Heal what is broken and breathe fresh fire into my soul. Thank You for never giving up on me. In Your name, Amen.
