Secrets To Finding Your Purpose
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Jonah’s story reminds us that God’s assignment for us is often geographical. We have to be where He wants us to be. Jonah was told to go to Nineveh, but he ran the other way. God had to intervene drastically by sending a fish to get Jonah back on track. After three difficult days inside the fish, Jonah finally said, “I’ll go anywhere You want me to go.” Don’t wait for a fish to get you where God is calling you. Step out in obedience today.
Sometimes what stirs anger or frustration inside us points to our God-given assignment. Think of the woman who started Mothers Against Drunk Driving after losing her son. Her pain and anger became a mission to protect others. Moses was angered by injustice, and that anger led him to deliver the Israelites. Reflect on what bothers you deeply; it might be where God wants to use you to bring change. Our passions and joys also reveal God’s plan. If you’re uncertain about a major decision like marriage, pay attention to your heart. The Bible says perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). If you’re filled with doubt or fear instead of joy, reconsider. God’s assignment should bring peace and excitement, not confusion and anxiety.
Don’t wait for a big opportunity to start living your purpose.
The Bible encourages us, “Do not despise the day of small beginnings” (Zechariah 4:10). Big doors open on small hinges. Excel in your current assignment, no matter how small it seems. Your faithfulness now prepares you for greater things to come.
Finally, choose to honor God’s authority in your life and the mentors He places around you. Mentors are shortcuts to success. Learning through their experience saves us from unnecessary pain. Invite correction and guidance, and you’ll grow faster in your journey. God’s plan is specific, and His timing is perfect. Step into your place with confidence and joy.
Pray this prayer today. “Lord, thank you for knowing the plans you have for me- plans to give me hope and a future. Help me to trust Your timing and to be obedient to where You call me to go. Reveal to me the things that stir my heart and guide me to use my passions and even my frustrations for your glory. Teach me to find joy and peace in the decisions I make, and give me the grace to excel where I am right now. Surround me with wise mentors and help me to honor your authority daily. May I walk confidently in the assignment you have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
