Scars

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Revelation 12:11

Jesus was healed of His wounds, but He still had scars. The scars became a testimony of God’s ability to heal.

We want everyone to think we have a picture-perfect family and that no bad thing has come against us because of our great faith. But our scars are a testimony of God’s ability to heal wounds. Scars show others what you overcame and how you are now living victorious.

Jesus walked into the Upper Room after He rose from the dead and said, “Some people, like Thomas, need to see my scars or they’ll never believe.”

Quit covering up your scars. They remind you of what you’ve been healed of. Wear them as a badge of honor.

Doctors say two things are critical for wounds to heal. Number one, they need to stay uncovered. We try to cover our scars by acting like we are perfect. Our pride makes us try to hide the hardships we have been through. But uncovering scars helps them heal.

The second necessary step in healing a wound is letting the blood flow. Every time you go before God in prayer, just rip the Band-Aid off and say, “Jesus, let the power of your blood flow. Change me, transform me, cleanse me, and heal me. Get the bitterness, anger, and hurt out. Remove the disappointment, hopelessness, and depression.”

Eutychus was a young man who fell out of a window during a church service. Paul went down to where he was and said, “Trouble, not yourself, for his life is in him.” The young man suffered a deadly wound, but there was still life inside of him. And no matter what has happened to you, there is still life in you.

You may feel wounded, and you don’t know what you’re going to do. You’re hurt, discouraged, and feel like giving up. You won’t find the answer in a bottle of alcohol. You won’t find the answer in a pill or the arms of another lover. Jesus says come unto me all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest for your souls. He can heal your wounds. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes and wounds, we are healed.
