RSVP to Wisdom’s Invitation
“Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not stray into her paths; for she has cast down many wounded, and all who were slain by her were strong men.” Proverbs 7:25-26 NKJV
You cannot stay neutral when it comes to temptation. Every day, you are invited to two very different parties. One is hosted by Lady Folly, the other by Lady Wisdom. You must RSVP. Ignoring the invitation is the same as choosing the wrong one.
In Proverbs 7, the Harlot’s preparations are described. She works hard to appeal to the senses. She perfumes her bed, spreads fine linens, and decorates everything to catch the eye. Her plan is temporary, designed for one night only. She does not build for the future. She offers a thrill that quickly kills. It looks good, but it has an expiration date.
The enemy always hides the price tag on sin until it is too late.
The Harlot’s meal is just leftovers. She says she has peace offerings to share, but it is nothing more than scraps. Temptation always promises satisfaction, but it never truly fills you. It leaves you hungry, broken, and empty.
Lady Wisdom offers something completely different. Proverbs 9 says she has built her house with seven pillars. She has prepared a banquet, not with leftovers but with a feast. She has thought about the long haul. Her invitation is public, shouted from the highest places. There are no secrets, no hiding, no shame. Wisdom builds what lasts.
You must decide which table to sit at. One is private, hidden, and destructive. The other is open, secure, and overflowing with blessing. The Harlot’s invitation may look appealing, but it leads to a prison house and eventually to death. Lady Wisdom’s invitation leads to a life of strength, opportunity, and favor that touches generations.
Do not say you are too strong to fall. Scripture says even the mighty have been slain in temptation. Instead, choose daily to RSVP to Wisdom. Fill your spirit with God’s Word, walk in accountability, and keep your eyes fixed on what lasts.
Prayer: Lord, I hear Your call to wisdom today. Give me the courage to tear up the invitation to temptation and the strength to resist what appeals only to my flesh. Help me build my life on what is lasting, eternal, and true. I choose Your table. I choose wisdom. I choose life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
