Quitters, Campers, and Climbers

There are three kinds of people in life: quitters, campers, and climbers.

Quitters are people who see a mountain and immediately give up. They might start the climb, taking a few short steps toward the goal, but they quit at the first challenge.

Campers are people who will climb only so high, and then they set up camp. They start to get comfortable and then aren’t willing to stretch. They might even be within view of the top, but they aren’t willing to go all the way.

Climbers are the third group, and that’s the group I want to be part of. They just keep climbing and refuse to quit until they reach the top.

The only way to get what you want in life is to make the climb. On your way to the place, the purpose, the destiny, the career, the high place you are trying to get to in life, you will have to climb. For the marriage you want, the career you want, the family you want, the ministry you want, the faith you want, you will have to climb.

Often, we wish that life was easy, smooth sailing, a flat and clearly marked path leading us directly to our destination. But that’s not real life. Real life is a rocky path with lots of detours. Real life is an uphill climb.

If you quit, you’ll never see all that God has for you. If you camp, you’ll settle for less than God’s best. But if you climb, you’ll discover His plans for you. Your hope and future are waiting for you on top of the mountain.
