Hide Them in the House of God
“Children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalm 127:3 KJV
When you look at your children, you see innocence, beauty, and incredible joy. You see the blessing of God wrapped up in their smiles and laughter. But you must also remember that the enemy looks at your children and sees a future he wants to destroy. He sees chains of addiction, immorality, pain, and brokenness. He does not spare the young. He delights in devouring what is most innocent.
That is why you cannot be passive about the spiritual lives of your children. In Luke 15, Jesus told the story of the lost sheep, the lost son, and the lost coin. The sheep wandered outside the fold. The son strayed to a far country. But the coin was lost in the house. It was still in the house but out of place, unseen, and disconnected. That is the danger facing children who grow up in church. They can be close enough to hear the singing, close enough to hear the preaching, close enough to be prayed for, and still be lost.
This truth calls you to fight. You cannot simply assume that because your children are in church, they belong to Christ. You must build walls of faith around them. You must pray over their eyes, their ears, and their hearts. You must get fierce about protecting them from the enemy’s schemes. Satan wants you to believe you are being too strict when you guide your children. He whispers that you are depriving them of fun. But what you are really doing is keeping them from destruction. You are hiding them in the house of God.
It takes courage to be a parent who says, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” But when you make that declaration, you are serving notice to hell that your children belong to God. They are not yours alone.
Your children are the heritage of the Lord, and He has entrusted them to you for a season.
Protect them. Pray for them. Place them in God’s hands daily.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for entrusting me with children who are Your heritage. Give me strength to protect them from the enemy’s lies. Help me to build walls of faith around their hearts and to hide them in Your Word and Your house. I declare that my children belong to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
