Go a Little Further in Faithfulness

"But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.’" Ruth 1:16 (NIV)

Ruth’s story is a powerful example of going a little further. After tragedy struck Naomi’s family, Ruth made a choice to leave her home and all she knew to follow her mother-in-law to Bethlehem, the place of bread and praise. She didn’t just say goodbye; she cleaved to Naomi with a commitment that went beyond comfort, convenience, or certainty.

Ruth’s willingness to go further placed her in the right field at the right time. While gleaning leftover grain, she caught the attention of Boaz, a man of integrity and influence, who would become her husband. Her faithfulness and courage to go beyond what was expected turned a story of loss into a story of provision, favor, and blessing.

Going a little further in faith often requires leaving what is familiar and stepping into uncertainty. It’s in that extra step of obedience, devotion, and persistence that God positions us for His miraculous work. Ruth didn’t just go along; she went further, and God rewarded her for it.

Ask yourself today: Am I willing to go a little further in my faith? In my devotion? In my obedience?

Sometimes the smallest step beyond comfort opens the door to unimaginable blessings.

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to go a little further in faith. Help me to leave behind what is comfortable and familiar and step fully into Your plan for my life. Teach me to cleave to You in devotion and obedience, trusting that as I go further, You will meet me and bless me in ways I cannot imagine. Amen.
