Go a Little Further in Faith
"And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, ‘Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore four times as much.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house.’" Luke 19:8-9 (ESV)
Zacchaeus teaches us a powerful lesson about going a little further. He was in the crowd, in the presence of Jesus, but that alone was not enough. He climbed a tree to see Him—a small step beyond what anyone else did, and it changed his life forever. Jesus noticed him, called him by name, and declared salvation over his house.
Being in the right place, being in the presence of God, is not the same as moving closer, pursuing Him, or stepping out of our comfort zones. Too often, we settle into familiar habits of worship, prayer, and faith. We attend services, we participate, but we stay “comfortable,” never daring to go beyond what feels normal or safe.
God tests us with these moments. He shows us opportunities to go further—beyond our routine, beyond our comfort, beyond what we think we can give.
When we step forward in obedience and faith, miracles happen.
Hearts are healed, families restored, and lives transformed. Sometimes it’s a small step, like Zacchaeus climbing a tree, but it leads to a breakthrough that would not have happened otherwise.
Ask yourself today: Am I willing to go a little further? To break out of my comfort zone, to lift my heart higher in worship, to reach a little more, to give a little more, and to pursue Jesus a little harder than I have before? Your “stone’s throw” of faith may be all it takes to meet God and see His miracles in your life.
Prayer: Lord, help me go a little further in my faith, in my worship, and in my pursuit of You. Take me beyond comfort and routine, and let my heart be fully open to Your presence. Teach me to reach a little higher, step a little closer, and give a little more, so that I may experience Your power, Your mercy, and Your miracles today. Amen.
