Go a Little Further for God’s Purpose
"Then Esther told them to fast for me and not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish." Esther 4:16 (NIV)
Esther’s story reminds us that being in the right place is not enough. You must go a little further. Though she was queen and had influence, a deadly threat loomed over her people. She could have relied on her position, but instead she chose to go further, committing to prayer and fasting, seeking God’s guidance and favor.
She didn’t stop there. Esther prepared herself fully, presenting herself to the king in a way that won his favor. She sought not material wealth or power, but his heart and authority on behalf of her people. Her courage, faith, and willingness to go further resulted in the deliverance of her people and her elevation.
Going a little further often involves risk, patience, preparation, and obedience. It’s in that extra effort that God moves on our behalf.
Esther’s story challenges us to ask: Am I willing to go beyond the comfortable or the expected to see God’s plan fulfilled in my life and in the lives of others?
Prayer: Lord, help me to go a little further in obedience, faith, and devotion. Give me courage to step beyond my comfort zone and fully trust You to work through me. Teach me to seek Your presence and Your favor above all else, knowing that as I go further, You will accomplish Your purposes. Amen.
