Get Your Priorities Straight

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24 (KJV)

Jesus’ words in Matthew 19:24 have often confused us, but the principle behind them is simple and powerful: God wants your heart, not your possessions. The rich man had to bow, unload his burdens, and let go of what he clung to before he could pass through the “eye of the needle.” Likewise, in our lives, God is calling us to lay down the things that distract us from what truly matters—our relationship with Him and the people He’s placed in our lives.

Think about it: are you working so hard that you don’t have time for your spouse, your children, or the people you love? Is money or success taking the place of intimacy, love, and worship in your home? The truth is, your wealth, your status, and your schedule cannot give you the happiness, peace, or blessing that God desires to pour into your life. Only He can do that.

The game is over for playing around with God. The time for lukewarm religion, half-hearted worship, and distractions is finished. God is calling us to suit up spiritually, to invest in our families, to pray, to worship, and to live fully surrendered to Him. The eye of the needle requires humility, surrender, and focus. The same is true for a life that honors God: you have to bow, lay down distractions, and commit your heart to what lasts.

This is the season to get your priorities straight. Spend time with your spouse. Speak blessing over your children. Worship as a family. Pray for your home. Live like every day counts because the game is over—the time for playing around is finished. God is coming soon for His people, and He is calling you to live with intentionality, passion, and love that reflects His heart.

Get focused. Bow your heart, let go of distractions, and put God and your family first. The blessings that matter most cannot be bought. They come when you live fully surrendered to God and fully present with the people He loves.

Prayer: Lord, help me to get my priorities straight. Teach me to bow, to let go of distractions, and to focus on You and the people You have placed in my life. Help me to live fully surrendered, to love passionately, and to honor You in every part of my day. Amen.
