Get Up (Part Two)

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

You have got to get up. You cannot lie there forever. You cannot stay there forever. There comes a moment when grace sounds like urgency, and love sounds like a command. Get up. God did not create you to live in chronic pain. You have to move forward into freedom. Today, declare that depression does not get to rule and reign over your life. Discouragement does not get the final word. Defeat does not get to settle in and make itself comfortable.

Scripture often compares God’s people to sheep, and that is not an insult. Sheep need care. When wool grows too heavy, a sheep can actually tip over on its back. Once it is down, it becomes vulnerable. It cannot defend itself. Predators watch for that moment. Disease sets in. That is why the Bible talks about shepherds. A good shepherd does not just protect and provide. A good shepherd shears.

Sometimes love looks like cutting away. Cutting off entanglements. Cutting off relationships, habits, mindsets, and places that keep you weighted down. You may have to say, I love you, but I cannot stay here with you. I cannot live in this darkness, this addiction, this cycle forever. I am getting sheared, set free, and back on my feet again.

The shepherd’s main job is to keep the sheep standing. Because when the sheep is down, the wolf moves in. That is why there is urgency here. You cannot wallow in it. You cannot lay down in it. You cannot surrender your faith to the moment. You have got to find your faith feet again.

Down is not your destiny. Divorce is not your destiny. Bad news is not your destiny. Sickness, loss, bankruptcy, and disappointment do not get to decide where you live. God says those who wait on Him will rise. Strength will return. You will stand again.

Prayer: Lord, I receive Your strength today. Cut away every weight that has kept me down. Lift me where I have been lying too long. I choose to stand again, to trust again, and to walk forward in faith. My permanent place is not down. By Your power, I get up today. Amen.
