Fighting For Your Family (Part 2)

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:4

There was an extraordinary man in the Bible who knew how to fight for his family. His name was Job. The Bible says in Job chapter one that each day, Job would rise and build an altar. He would place a sacrifice on that altar for every member of his household. And he did this continually. That means every morning, every day, he came before the Lord with the names of his children on his lips. He interceded. He cried out to God. He went to battle for their souls.

This was not a dead religious ritual. This was warfare. This was spiritual firepower. Job was standing in the gap. He was saying to every demon, every addiction, every wrong relationship, every influence from the pit of hell, “You cannot have my children. I plead the blood of Jesus over them. You will not have them, not today, not ever.” That same fire needs to burn in us today. We are living in a world filled with temptation and distraction. Evil is not hiding anymore. It is loud, it is bold, and it is targeting the next generation. Parents, it is time to pray. It is time to fight. It is time to call out the names of your children before the throne of heaven.

When you pray, you are not just speaking into the air. You are moving heaven. You are shaking hell. Prayer is your weapon.

Prayer demolishes strongholds. Prayer builds a hedge of protection around your household.

Do not let the culture raise your children. Do not let Hollywood shape their values. Do not let social media become their teacher. Keep a watchful eye on what they hear and what they see. Know who they spend time with. Know where they go and how they are living. That is not control. That is love. That is stewardship. That is what it means to be a godly parent. When your kids come home, talk to them. Check in. Ask questions. Smell their breath if you need to. Be involved. Be present. Be a shepherd. Even good sheep can get lost sometimes. It is your job to guide them back.

We have tools today to help us. There is even a free app called Life360 that lets you track your child’s phone, and since they are always on their phones, it works. It can tell you where they are and even how fast they are driving. That is not spying. That is shepherding. This is not a game. This is a battle, and you are the warrior. God has placed those children in your care. You are not helpless. You are not powerless. You have authority in the Spirit. Use it.

Build an altar in your home. Call on the name of Jesus. Plead the blood over your children. And do it every day. Continually. Just like Job. Because your prayers today are shaping their tomorrow.
