Fight for Your House
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Acts 16:31 (NKJV)
The first battle recorded in Scripture was not about land, money, or power. It was about family. It was about refusing to fight one another and choosing instead to fight the real enemy. The enemy is not your spouse. The enemy is not your child. The enemy is not the people you love. The real battle is against the forces of darkness that want to steal, destroy, and divide.
You are called to fight for your family. Not with anger, not with harsh words, but with prayer, faith, and spiritual authority. There is a spirit in this world that wants to pull your family away from God. It wants to take your children, your marriage, and your future. But you can stand with confidence and declare, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
There is a promise attached to your faith. When you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that promise extends beyond you. It reaches into your home. It reaches into your children. It reaches into generations. That does not mean you sit back and do nothing. It means you rise up and take hold of that promise with everything in you.
Abraham did exactly that. When his family member was taken captive, he did not hesitate. He gathered what he had and went to war. He fought until he brought his family back. That is the heart you are called to have. When someone you love is bound, you do not ignore it. You pray. You pursue. You believe God for their freedom.
But there is another part of the battle you cannot miss. After the victory, Abraham was offered the riches of Sodom. It looked like a reward, but it was a trap. If he had taken it, his future would have been tied to something ungodly. He refused. He said, in essence, “I am not for sale.”
You must have that same resolve. The enemy will try to offer you shortcuts, distractions, and compromises. He will try to trade temporary gain for eternal loss. But when you say no to the world and yes to God, something powerful happens. God steps in and says, “I am your shield. I am your exceeding great reward.”
Maybe you are in a season where you are still waiting on a promise. You believe God, but you do not yet see it. Some days your faith is strong, and other days you wrestle with doubt. That does not disqualify you. It means you are walking it out. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep fighting.
Your family is worth it. The promise is still alive. And God is faithful to finish what He started.
Prayer: Lord, give me a burden for my family. Help me to fight the right battles and to stand on Your promises. Strengthen my faith and remind me that You are my reward. Amen.
