Fight For What’s Left

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9

It’s always too soon to give up on your family. There’s a powerful testimony about a doctor in my community whose son went astray. He was a brilliant student, but after injuring his back, he became dependent on painkillers, and it devastated his life. One day, the doctor called and said, “We feel like our world is falling apart.” My heart broke for him, but I responded, “Fight for what’s left.” Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem, and they still stand today. Your family might be work, but they’re worth fighting for. God can restore what seems lost. Later, the doctor called me again and said his son had entered a rehab program. The young man committed to healing and even decided that once he recovered, he would become a doctor himself.

Trying times will come. But when life isn’t perfect, don’t bolt. Stand your ground and fight for your loved ones. Preserve the treasure of your family.

You may not be in a picture-perfect family, but that doesn’t mean the enemy has won.

If you boldly declare, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” God will fight on your behalf. Abraham made a huge mistake by taking Hagar into his tent to bear a child for him. This rash decision could have wrecked his family and his future. But God preserved Abraham’s family, and Isaac was still born to Sarah as God had promised. Abraham still had more descendants than the stars in the sky, just as God had told him he would. God even blessed Hagar’s son and gave him a good life. No family situation that you are in is too messy for God. His grace is boundless.

This world will try to convince you to just give up on your marriage and find a better one. It will tell you that it’s okay to cut your child out of your life if they are stealing your joy. But we need a return to what the Bible calls the “old paths” and timeless truths that built strong marriages, raised godly children, and rooted communities in faith. Those principles of love and forgiveness still work. God’s Word still holds power. Your marriage is a treasure. Your children are priceless. Your faith is more valuable than gold. So today, make a decision to become a man or woman of God who protects what matters. Love your spouse fiercely. Lead your children faithfully. Not just for today but for every generation to come.

If your family is facing difficult times, pray this prayer:

“Help me, Lord, to preserve my family in the midst of battle. When things get hard, give me the strength to stand and fight for what’s left. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. I pray for an atmosphere of love, faithfulness, attentiveness, and intimacy to return to my home. Remove bitterness, unforgiveness, and negativity from our hearts. Rebuild our relationships. My family is a treasure, and hell can’t have it. Nothing will separate us from the love of God and our love for one another. Amen.”
