Does God Really Care? (Part 2)
“For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.” 1 John 3:20
Time and time again, the Bible tells us that Jesus knew all things. Nothing happened that alarmed Him because He knew God was in control of everything at all times. In Matthew 12:24-15, the Pharisees were saying that Jesus was casting out devils by Beelzebul, the prince of demons. They were murmuring amongst themselves, but the Bible said, “He knew their thoughts.” In John 5:6, a man at the pool of Bethesda had been there 38 years. The text said Jesus “knew he had been in that condition a long time.” He knew where he was and what he was going through. John 6:64 says, “For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.” John 13:1 says that Jesus knew that the “hour had come that He should depart out of this world.” He knew the timing. He knows all things.
He still knows the timing. He knows what you’re going through. He knows exactly where you are and how long your circumstances have been going on. He knows your heart and where you are in your relationship with Him.
In John 1:42, when Jesus first met Peter, He looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (or Peter), which is translated as ‘A Stone’. Jesus looked at Peter and called him what He would be, not what he currently was. He didn’t see the temperamental Peter who denied Him three times. He saw a great leader capable of building the church. Jesus doesn’t see your circumstances the way you do. He sees the end of your story. He sees you healed and strong. He sees your marriage restored and better than ever. He knows what will happen. It should bring you so much peace that someone out there knows it will all work out just right.
