Born To Be A King

“For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17

A story is told of King Louis when he first went into office. When he first became king he was extremely popular but he began to abuse the power and the people started to revolt against him. They threw him out of office and captured his son. Knowing that he was the next heir to the throne, the captors decided to destroy him from the inside out. They were too afraid of some of the king’s supporters to just kill him on the street so they took him to a distant country and tried to disqualify him in another way. Each and every day they took him to low places and exposed him to evil, immorality, debauchery, and wickedness of every sort. They thought by making him live in a cesspool of iniquity that he would end up destroying himself. But after six months of exposing King Louis’s son to this environment they were surprised to find him unaffected. He refused to participate in any of it.

So the captors asked him, “Why aren’t you joining in?” And his response was, “I was born to be a king.” He knew that even though he wasn’t living the good life yet, he was born for better than what he was seeing. He knew he was born to live among royalty in a palace and even though his circumstances had changed, who he was had never changed. He was a royal. Each one of us needs to grab on to that realization. If you have been born again, there is something in you that is different. There is something in you that will enable you to resist temptation and live above the circumstances that life puts you in. Your body was made for more than drinking, doing drugs, and immorality. Your mind was made for more than filth, ungodliness, and the trash of this world. You need to get a revelation of who you are.

Even though the king’s son found himself in a lowly, filthy, dark place, he never lost the realization of his purpose and what he was born for.

He was born for a throne, to rule and reign, to have authority, and to be a king. You were born again for a high and noble cause. Your father may have been a wicked man and your mother may have been an addict but you don’t have to follow in their footsteps. When Christ saved you, He raised you up to Heavenly places. You were born to rule and reign with Jesus Christ! You were born to be a king!
