Boat Builders (Part 2)
“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” Genesis 6:22
Today, you’re being called to be a boat builder. As a parent, God has placed a sacred responsibility in your hands. It’s not the church’s job to keep your family spiritual; it’s your job to build a home that keeps the church spiritual.
Your family needs a steady, godly leader. That starts with you.
You’re raising your children in a world where the family is under attack. Culture has traded truth for tolerance. Sin is no longer confronted, even in some churches. But God hasn’t changed His mind. Just like He did with Noah, He’s looking at you and saying: “Save your family.” Build something that will rise above the flood of confusion and compromise.
God gave Noah a blueprint, because Noah had never built a boat before- and you’ve never raised a family before either. Children don’t come with instructions. But God’s Word does. He told Noah exactly how long, how wide, and how high. One window. One door. Gopher wood, not oak. Why? Because if Noah had built the ark his way, his family wouldn’t have survived. The same goes for your home. You don’t get to make it up as you go. You have to build it God’s way.
That means there are some non-negotiables. You set standards in your home that line up with scripture. You draw lines around what’s allowed and what isn’t. You don’t get those standards from social media, from celebrities, or from culture’s shifting values. The world may have opinions, but unless those opinions line up with the Bible, they won’t help your family make it through the storm.
You can’t choose for your children. They’ll have to decide whether or not to get on the boat you build. But if you don’t build it, they’ll be left treading water in a world that’s sinking fast. Your job is to make sure the boat is ready. So build it. Build it with prayer. Build it with integrity. Build it with the Word of God as your foundation. Do it exactly like God says, because your family is counting on it.
Pray this little prayer today: “Father, help me build my home according to Your Word. Give me strength to lead with conviction and courage. I want to honor You and prepare my family for Heaven. Amen.”
