Before the Trumpet Sounds
“Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!’” Revelation 6:15–16 (NIV)
There is a day coming that the Bible describes with absolute seriousness: the return of Jesus and the catching away of His Church. Scripture says it will happen suddenly, “in the twinkling of an eye,” when those who belong to Christ are gathered to meet Him. After that moment, the world will enter a season the Bible calls tribulation, a time of shaking, confusion, and global unrest unlike anything in human history. Jesus Himself warned that it would be unlike anything that has ever been seen or will ever be seen again, and the prophets agreed that it would be a time of deep trouble on the earth.
When that season begins, scripture shows humanity reacting in fear and desperation. Leaders, wealthy men, the powerful, and the ordinary alike will recognize that something far beyond human control has taken place. Revelation says they will hide in caves and cry out for the mountains to cover them, not because of political instability or natural disaster alone, but because they realize they are standing before the reality of God’s judgment. The systems of the world will collapse, fear will spread, and what once seemed secure will no longer hold. Everything that people trusted apart from God will fail in that moment.
But the message of God’s word is not given to produce fear. It is given to produce readiness. Before that day comes, God is extending mercy. Before the trumpet sounds, grace is available. Before the world is shaken, hearts can still be anchored in Christ. This is why the call is urgent: draw near to God now. Not later. Not when life slows down. Not when it feels convenient. Jesus is coming again, and the most important preparation is not external; it is internal. It is knowing Him, walking with Him, and living close to Him. Religion is not enough, emotion is not enough, and distance from God is dangerous. Only a real relationship with Jesus will stand when everything else is shaken.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, awaken my heart and draw me close to You. Remove every distraction, every cold place, and every distance in my walk with You. I don’t want to live unaware or unprepared for Your return. Teach me to love Your presence and value Your Word above everything else. Strengthen me to stay faithful in a world that is drifting further from You. Purify my heart, steady my spirit, and keep me anchored in Your grace. Let my life not be shallow or divided, but fully surrendered to You. Help me to walk closely with You every day so that I am ready when You come. Amen.
