Almost Right is Always Wrong (Part Three)

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4 KJV

When Jesus went into the wilderness, He faced the devil directly. Notice what He did not do. He did not sing a song to fire Himself up. He did not try to stir emotion or energy. He did not depend on feelings. He turned to the one thing that never changes. He said, “It is written.”

You see, strength for your battle does not come from working yourself into a feeling. It comes from the Word of God. The Word is what gives you stability when temptation comes. The Word is what fuels your prayers.

The Word is what gives you authority over the enemy.

Almost anything else will leave you empty. Only the Word will stand.

This is why it matters how you handle Scripture. Take Isaiah 10:27 as an example. People often say, “The anointing breaks the yoke.” That sounds good, but it is not what the verse says. Scripture declares, “The anointing destroys the yoke.” That is a huge difference. Something that breaks can be repaired and used again, but something that is destroyed can never hold you again. The anointing does not just crack sin’s hold. It obliterates it so it cannot return. Almost right is always wrong, and in this case, it robs the verse of its true power.

Or think about Psalm 34:3, “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” You cannot make God bigger than He already is. He is already the King of kings and Lord of lords. What magnifying does is change your perspective. Just like a microscope reveals what was already present but hidden from your eye, the Word of God magnifies Jesus in your life. The more you read it, the more you see Him as healer, provider, deliverer, and faithful friend.

This is why you must cling to the Word exactly as it is written. No substitutes. No shortcuts. No softening of truth. The enemy cannot stand against a believer who says with Jesus, “It is written.”

Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving me Your Word as a weapon and a source of life. Help me to depend on it in every battle I face. Keep me from twisting or weakening it. Let Your Word magnify Jesus in my heart until I see Him more clearly every day. Thank You that the anointing destroys every yoke in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
