A Freefall Into A Miracle
“He remembered us…His faithful love endures forever.” Psalms 136:23
In Acts 20, a young boy fell asleep while Paul was preaching and fell out of a third-story window and died. But what looked like a disaster was actually a freefall into a miracle. Paul ran to the dead boy and took him in his arms, and he was brought back to life! No sermon Paul could have ever preached would have impacted those people like that moment did.
Maybe disaster has hit your life, and you have fallen so hard that everyone thinks you’re finished. But it could be that God is just letting you freefall into a miracle so the watching world can witness His goodness. Your plans and dreams may be broken, but God is not through with you yet.
There is a story about a Christian evangelist who went to preach to a village during the Vietnam War. The communists came and invaded the village where he was living, and after finding out he was a pastor, they took him prisoner. They put him in what was called a “rehabilitation camp,” and he was not allowed to read anything. He was isolated there for two and a half years. All day long, he had to get down and dig with a bucket and shovel and clean the nasty toilets of the Vietnamese soldiers. He hit a point where he got so low that he cried out to God, “If you’re there, you’re going to have to speak to me.” Then, one day, he was cleaning another toilet when he noticed something he had never seen before. He saw pages of paper. One of the generals had decided to use the Bible as toilet paper.
He had found one page- Romans chapter 8. It read:
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: ‘For your sake, we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God was speaking life to him in his darkest hour. Don’t ever give up. Even when things are looking bad, you could be one moment away from your breakthrough.
