The Ebenezer Principle

Sermon Notes

No matter what you face, you must remember that up until this point, the Lord has helped you. Everything you’ve gone through that could have taken you out failed, and God brought you through.

Key Scriptures:

I Samuel 4:1-5:1; I Samuel 7:9-12; Joshua 24:27; Genesis 12:3; Revelation 12:11; Acts 4:11-12; Ephesians 2:20; Matthew 1:1; I Samuel 11:9

Key Points:

  1. Build a memorial. When trouble tries to steal your joy, remind yourself how faithful God has been to you up to this point.
  2. God is more than capable of defending Himself. No one can do anything to Israel without going through God. When you mess with Israel, you mess with God, and He knows how to defend Himself. The same God who defends Israel is defending you!
  3. Your greatest defeat can be your greatest victory. Your testimony carries power. You can’t worry about what’s next; all you can do is remember how faithful God has been up to this point.
  4. Ask yourself, “Who am I?” When you love God’s house, God will build your house. Instead of whining about what you don’t have, praise God for you do have.
  5. Remember your stone of help. Your stone of help is Jesus Christ. By the time the trial gets hot, God will step in, in the nick of time, and become your stone of help.

Final Thoughts:

If you set up a memorial stone and remember what God has done in your life, your greatest defeat can become your greatest victory. God has been faithful to you up until this point, and He won’t change now
